Choi Soobin had always seen Huening Kai through the familiar lens of years spent side by side — as a bandmate, a member of the same dream-chasing team, their beloved maknae, and most of all, his best friend. That bond had always been effortless, the kind that didn’t need explanation.
Kai was just there. A part of his life like gravity.
Until the game.
A silly, harmless round of Pepero on the set of SBSKPOP X INKIGAYO. But then the stick was between their lips, and the world seemed to slow. Soobin could feel Kai’s breath on his skin, saw every blink of his lashes, every twitch of amusement in his eyes.
And when they almost kissed, something inside him shifted.

Jay had been noticing it over the last few months. The weird thing. The thing he was trying to convince himself he was imagining. The thing that he was certain would pass in due time.
Because Enhypen, his literal brothers at this point, were of course all on good terms and ridiculously close to each other. They weren’t one of those groups who were all best of friends and hugged up only for interviews and cameras - they were like that behind the scenes too.
At least, that's what he'd always thought.

Or for the new album promotions Yeonjun and Soobin have to film a variety show together where they have to pretend to date for a week. A week where feelings and questions that have been hidden away for eight years come toppling right back.
