“I don’t think you’re supposed to smoke on campus.” Shane muttered, glancing up at the cigarette, then back at the guy’s eyes.
The guy snorted.
“Da. Good thing we are not on campus. I am Ilya.” He held out his hand.
Shane eyed it, then slowly reached out with his own. He could smell vodka? on the guy’s breath. Some sort of alcohol, at least. He wasn’t super familiar with the assortments.
But, he didn’t want to be rude. That was one thing he wasn’t.
“Il-ya,” he said, “My name is Shane.”
“Shane.” Ilya repeated

Summary
It is almost impossible to be unaware of who Ilya Rozanov is, the Formula One rookie taking the world by storm. Even Shane, who doesn’t follow F1, knows his name. Every sports news outlet seems to be obsessed with him. It doesn’t make Shane jealous, when he has an unbelievable rookie season in the NHL, that the news outlets just talk about his accomplishments for a minute before singing Ilya’s praises again. Of course it doesn’t.
