Summary
“I’m Kim Dokja,” he offers, pressing the button for the elevator with the knuckle of his finger. “QA department.”
“Yoo Joonghyuk,” the man replies after a long silence. The heat of his presence burns circles into his left shoulder blade, the edge of his coat scraping bone. “Have we met before?”
He looks back, and feels it, the lingering ache from the morning making itself known. “No,” he says, stepping into the elevator. “No, I don’t think we’ve ever met.”
Some things are meant to be. Maybe Yoo Joonghyuk is one of them.

Summary
It’s hard to get back into the groove of writing. The words aren’t quite there like they used to be, and Gaon spends more time staring at empty pages than actually writing. The muscle memory isn’t quite there and the words escape him when he needs them most.
But, like clockwork, there’s a customer who comes in at the same time every night, who gives Gaon a respite from staring at the empty page and hoping that words will come to him.
The customer always comes in with messy hair, in a hoodie and ripped jeans and boots that Gaon only places as brand name after the fourth time he sees the man. He buys an energy drink, a packaged meal, and whatever the brand of fruit snacks in the far left corner of the store are called, as many of the fruit snacks as he can fit into his pocket. He pays in cash and never speaks. Gaon notices, the same time he recognizes the brand of shoe that he wears, that the man has earbuds in, hidden underneath the shagginess of his hair. It takes another week before Gaon catches a glimpse of the man’s phone- the newest model Android- and he realises that the man isn’t listening to music, but rather, an audiobook.

Everything loses focus in the months that follow the bombing. His life becomes a blur of camera flashes and self-censorship, of increasing loneliness and dimming hope. He begins to think Yohan was right about him. Maybe his methods are too gentle. Maybe his expectations were too great.
Gaon is struggling. Yohan takes him home.

Summary
Yoon Soo-Hyun is just minutes too late to prevent Kim Ga-On from attacking Do Yung-Choon outside the courthouse.
Kim Ga-On spends three years in prison and is released during the worst of the economic crisis. Unable to find “honest” work, he gets a job as an escort.
Kang Yo-Han hates people, especially in large groups, where they crowd him and make suggestive comments. An escort, he finds, makes an excellent shield against some of the more persistent and inappropriate people he’s forced to socialize with. Escorts follow rules and expectations, at least until he meets Kim Ga-On, who burns with rage underneath his polite exterior and keeps insulting the Foundation’s Directors in a way that’s just subtle enough that they don’t notice – but Kang Yo-Han does, and instantly senses a kindred spirit.
