Johnny Joestar is broken.
It's what these people whisper in the streets, the days following the incident. Broken, that kid, they say, with a nod and a self-righteous expression, It was a long time coming anyways, don't you think?
And maybe they were right, maybe Johnny would have been broken even without the bullet piercing his spine. Maybe he would have broke after a while, or maybe he was already broken -broken by Nicholas's death, by his father's words, by life itself- but why would that matter? He couldn't stand, couldn't feel his legs, but his mind was still clear.
The weeks following the incident, he got himself a horse and started from the bottom for the second time, because horseracing was something he couldn't afford to lose.
There were many broken things about Johnny -his legs, his relationship with his father, his compassion and so much more- but that didn't really matter. What mattered was how he took these broken things and rebuilt himself with it.

“How could you! Without me? Cristo Johnny, I’m hurt frankly." Johnny sighed lightly before taking another bite, once again breaking his own promise. He couldn't help it, the soup was warm and it made his body heat up faster than anything else they had tried.

Lucy, a friend of Johnny, tries to help him snap out of his state by visiting him and convincing him to get up. They spend time together, sharing memories of Gyro and talking about their feelings. However, Johnny's grief continues to consume him. It is based off the song Sunsetz by Cigarettes After Sex. The song is about coping about your partner not being there, so I made a fic off of it.
