Yet another piece tumbled over the edge of his work table, and Dustin let out a heavy curse, weary to his bones. The clank of the sound so loud, jarring, it snaps him out of the trance he had been under for seemingly hours. Dustin blinked the grime from his eyes and rubbed a hand over his exhausted face. He kept forgetting to shave, and now he had a week-old stubble to show for it.
He sat on his swivel chair, leaning back and let out a pensive sigh. As each day passed,
Dustin could feel the pit in his stomach get larger. His hope fizzled; it had already been four months since that night, and he had nothing to show for it yet.The smell of ozone during the storm lingered even now as it did then, when Dustin resurfaced from the Upside Down. Penelope didn't find that as amusing.
