My breath catches in my throat, voice coming out husky, barely a whisper. "Yeah?"
"I want to," he says. "I want to feel the charge in the air as I chase you through the dark. Feel your heart racing when I catch you."
My mouth goes dry, pulse fluttering.
"Would you struggle?"
"Do you want me to?"
'I don't know," he says. "Maybe."
"How would you know I still want it, if I'm struggling?"
"You could have a safe word. Maybe Halloween."
He laughs, the sound thick and warm, like caramel.
"How do I know you'd honor it? We aren't in a relationship. We haven't established that kind of trust."
It seems like a good question, until he answers me.
