“Look,” Sophia says, pointing up at the sky. “You can’t even see the stars because of the snow.”
“That doesn't make sense.”
“It doesn’t have to make sense. It’s pretty.” Sophia turns her head to look at Manon, and there’s snow in her hair and on her eyelashes; Manon wants to lick it off — she’s, like, drunk though, and it’s the alcohol speaking, and if she says it enough times, she can convince herself it’s true, right? “You’re pretty.”
Manon's breath catches. “You’re drunk.”
“I’m drunk and you’re pretty. Both things can be true,” she declares, before sitting up and brushing snow off herself. “Okay, now we should actually go home before we freeze to death for real.”
Or: Love blooms, in the snow, and it is just right.
Or (unrelated): 35 people will break up today because a girl will post Sophia & then their partner is going to say, “Hey, how can you post Sophia Laforteza and not me?” Well, babe...

They haven’t even done much, but it’s still getting harder and harder to speak coherently, because Sophia’s mouth has always been good at everything; at singing, at talking, yapper-oholic, at pleasuring Manon — ugh, ugh, fuck. “Sophia,” she repeats; then, breathlessly, “Sophia, it’s —” her hands attempt to move, but it’s a hopeless effort to grip something and stabilize herself, when she finds them locked in place by that insufferable little tie.
Sophia’s nothing short of pleased, letting out her own soft noise. She’s finally grown tired of waiting, it seems, and starts moving downward, kisses upon kisses to her chest, and then her thighs, before reaching the spot Manon desperately wants her.
Manon thinks she loves her.

Megan opens her eyes.
She’s sitting in a chair; she doesn’t remember just how she started sitting, but she is. It isn’t the folding chair from the gaming lounge — it’s nothing like that at all, in fact. This one is so much bigger, and cushioned, with a high back and smooth armrests. It sort of reminds Megan of a ride chair, like something from a theme park. The one that has a locking mechanism meant to keep her in-place.
Where is she?
Or: Megan's straight-up obsessed with Mario Party — except, being isekai'd into it isn't exactly the highlight of her day, not when she's stuck in a Mario costume and with the girl who just kicked her ass in the aforementioned game. What could possibly go wrong?

She jolts when she feels a hand slip into hers, lacing their fingers together, palm to callused palm.
The hand in question is cool and damp, but Manon hardly notices, overwhelmed by the warmth traveling from the tips of her ears all the way down to her chest.
Said hand passes her a water bottle — which explains the dampness — and… Sophia.
“Hey,” she says, quiet enough that the others won’t hear over the general airport noise. Her thumb brushes over Manon’s knuckles once, twice. “Doing okay?”
Manon glances at her; she perks up like a dog, really, because she’s always liked Sophia’s attention on her. When Sophia’s words finally register, after an embarrassingly long moment, her lips crook up into a humorless smile. “Define okay.”
Or: Manon's scared of planes, and Sophia's a real-life knight-in-shining-armor.

Summary
Because bleeding red implied romance, implied love — implied giddy feelings and heartfelt confessions.
As Megan will come to learn in the next agonizing thirty seconds, the longest half-minute of her entire nineteen years of living, Yoonchae and Dani are none of that.
Instead, they are:
Yoonchae, cupping her hand on the space between Dani’s shoulder and neck. Yoonchae, closing the gap between their faces. Dani, closing her eyes and submitting, like it’s the next move in a meticulously choreographed dance, and she’s simply playing out her part. Like it’s natural. Rehearsed.
Megan’s thoughts are reduced to dusty remains, pure static.
Or: Megan's a mess, but so are Dani and Yoonchae. Behind locked doors, they're just far better at hiding it.

“You don't understand,” Dani continues. She’s moving now, because standing did nothing to relieve the agitation in her bones, gathering her notes and shoving them into her bag with shaking hands. “You pulled a sword and became a hero. Just like that. You're — you're done. Your destiny handed itself to you and said, 'Here, this is who you are, this is what you're meant to do,' and you didn't have to question it, you didn't have to earn it, you just —”
She stops, catching her breath. Lara’s still in front of her, playing the picture-perfect epitome of patience, of pure, utter serenity, and it only serves to piss Dani off more than she thought possible.
“I've prayed until my knees bled,” Dani exclaims, voice cracking. “I've studied every text, every ritual, every historical account of past princesses who could seal the darkness. I've done everything right and I'm still nothing.”
The silence between them is so thick that Dani could drown in it.
Or: Dani has the weight of the world on her shoulders. The thing is, Lara does too. They make as much peace as they can with that.

megan definitely likes yoonchae. it’s been clear from the very beginning, so long as you actually understand what she is like as a person and how she treats and reacts to her relationships. for starters, the interest was always there. megan found yoonchae cute in dream academy and wanted to include her in everything; at first it was only because she saw herself in yoonchae after going through that same cycle as a young teenage girl getting into the program, but it develops into a closer friendship where they are both comfortable with each other.

“I know, I know.” Sophia consoles, like she’s a child, which only serves to make her more annoyed. She’s not some… kid. Her and Sophia are only five years apart, which in the grand scheme of things, is quite small. Her and Megan? Even less, despite everyone’s continually coddling of her and adult-manner-of-speaking toward Megan. But it’s hard to stay mad at Sophia when she’s scooting to the edge of the bed, closer, amused expression gone and replaced by concern. “But honestly? I think you might be overthinking this. Megan's been stressed with the comeback prep. We all have.”
Yoonchae would like to believe her. It’d make everything fine and dandy, really. It’s not personal. It’s not personal. Maybe she should repeat it, like a mantra, whip out a prayer book and some candles, until it comes true, because even if Sophia claims she’s ‘overthinking this’, there’s a gnawing feeling in her stomach that won't go away. A certainty that something has fundamentally shifted between her and Megan, and that it’s all Yoonchae’s fault — she doesn't know what or why or how to fix it.

Megan had gotten into Ninjago approximately three months ago, which she’s aware is extremely late to the party, considering the show has been around for years. Better late than never, right?
She'd started watching it as a joke, something to put on in the background while she did other things, but then she'd actually gotten invested in the characters and the plot. Before she knew it she was binging entire seasons in one sitting and reading fanfiction at 3 AM.
And then she'd discovered the Tumblr fandom.
Which is where she'd encountered her nemesis, archenemy, devil of her eye, worst person alive, blah blah blah: chipoftheyoon.
Or: Megan and Yoonchae are roommates in college, both cursed with an unfixable Ninjago addiction. Neither of them is aware of the other's addiction, nor their less-than-savory online activities. The inevitable discovery simultaneously ruins and fixes everything.

“So.” Sophia turns to face her fully. Her antlers glow faintly in the emergency lights. Manon wonders if that’s intentional or if Sophia just has that effect on lighting. “I think we might be stuck here.”
No shit, Manon nearly quips. But Sophia’s only here because of her, and that small, small, she emphasizes, small guilty part of Manon feels awful about that. So…kindness rules. For the day.
“Merry apocalypse,” Manon, sarcastic — because even though she won’t say something as harsh as no shit, that doesn’t mean she’s going to be one of God’s perfect little angels. Go to the church a few streets down for one of those — and filled with faux-cheer, remarks.
Or: Manon and Sophia are co-workers. It's all fine and dandy, till a snowstorm comes and leaves them stuck in the office together. An office with a continually lowering temperature. It's a good thing they're hopelessly in love (human body heat is a phenomenal thing, indeed)!

Dani will blame it on the cancer. Its untimely diagnosis has left her fragile, weak, prone to human emotions she could’ve ignored prior. Despite her total hatred of Waiting for Godot, Dani is coerced into auditioning for her friend’s fall production of it. But when she meets Megan, bright, blinding (Alliterative B, her brain echoes distantly. A forceful sound. Emphasizes your point), and impossible to ignore, she find herself pulled into something stranger than Beckett’s play and Lara’s eccentric, unconventional directing style. She finds her plans to be detached and dignified about dying ruined.
Or: Dani makes some friends and loses a lot of sanity, and Lara gets a hit play.
