Summary
“Well, we’re doing a fancy dinner and mini golf and karaoke,” Buck says, “and those are kinda date activities anyway, right?”
“Right,” Eddie says slowly. “Except it’s Chim’s bachelor party, so we can hardly bring dates along, even if we could find them. That’d be weird.”
“Well,” Buck says, “I was thinking… what if we were each other’s dates?”
Eddie’s brain bluescreens for a moment.
Buck must take his total lack of reaction for disagreement, because he hurriedly says, “Like, a pretend date. That way we could test out our, like you said, moves on each other. And then be totally truthful about whether they worked or not. So we get honest feedback and we don’t have to worry about finding someone to try them out on and we can still make it to Chim’s party. And then give Chris some advice before Sunday. Right? Does that make sense?”
or, chris wants dating advice and it turns out taking your best friend on a pretend date to practice being as romantic as possible is not a good idea in theory or in practice, considering the pesky being-in-unrequited-love of it all

Summary
How long had he been pushing the knife deeper?
How much had he actually hurt Eddie before he chose to pull it out himself and close the door so Buck wouldn't be able to anymore?
How much would he take if Buck hadn't started to yell at him and let him do whatever it would take to be supportive?
Would he make it through the wedding?
Would he stand behind Buck at the altar, watching him marry someone else, never saying a word?
Just shove his feelings down because he thought this was what would make Buck happy?
The fucked up part is that Buck knows he would.
Would even smile through everything too, help him with planning, and talk him down if he panicked.
Just stand there, with his feelings unknown, letting Buck push the knife in deeper and deeper until there would be nothing left of them.
Until there was so much pain that there would be no saving them when Buck finally came to his senses.

Summary
“Get home safe,” Buck says. Then, as always, he thinks: I love you.
Eddie goes very, very still. His breathing stutters to a stop. There’s a strange expression on his face, his mouth twisting in that way it does when he doesn’t know what to say.
Buck squints blearily at him. “What?”
A muscle in his jaw twitches once. Twice. The muted light illuminates the quiet movement of his throat as he swallows.
“What’d you just say?”
“Get home safe,” Buck repeats, a yawn overtaking the last word. “Why…?”
Or: the one where Buck, drowsy and delirious on pain medication, confesses his love to Eddie without realizing it.

Re: Buck & Natalia’s Wedding E-Vite
Eddie [email protected]to buckleybuck
Thank you for your email. Here are my two cents:
Cent one: I will NOT be attending.
Cent two: I suggest you hire a better graphic designer than Chimney. This wedding invitation looks like it had been pulled straight out of the first free template on Google and then edited on PicsArt.With warmest wishes to the happy couple,
Eddie Diaz.
___OR Buck and Natalia get engaged, and Eddie flees the state about it. A petty email correspondence ensues.

Summary
Eddie reaches a hand, slowly, towards the cat, palm up and open like he was taught to greet dogs, and the beast hisses at him.
“Oh, relax,” he says, rolling his eyes, and inches his hand closer. “I’m bigger than you.”
The cat’s eyes are narrowed into slits, zeroed in on his hand, but she doesn’t hiss again. Eddie’s not sure how she does it, but he gets the distinct impression that she’s doing him a huge favour when she finally lets him get close enough to run gentle fingers over the top of her head.
Her fur is dry and chalky, like she’s got a layer of grime settled on top of her. Eddie’s familiar with the feeling.
