The Olympians hold no power here in the Underworld, so far from their mountaintop, yet wicked Aphrodite manages to strike where she pleases still. Though, Thanatos doubts even now that she could have moved his heart if it were not for the one he holds so dear within it. Zagreus is light and life within these dark halls, and Thanatos adores him so.

Zagreus isn’t drunk. He's a lightweight, but he's not been here long. Not even tipsy, really. Even so, Thanatos’ implied meaning goes over his head, at first.
His eighteenth birthday. Thanatos would have been twenty-eight. His…eighteenth birthday. Suddenly, it sinks in.
Zagreus finally looks at Thanatos, confused. Shocked. “You wanted to fuck me.”
Thanatos fidgets, tracing the rim of his glass with his forefinger. “It – I – You. It – ” He chokes on his words. “It wasn’t as simple as that.”

During one more run, one more try, Zagreus finally finds himself up in the fields of Elysium for the second time and yet he loses, he feels himself slipping away into the River Styx, back home… Until he doesn’t anymore, until he feels a pull back to reality and a breath swelling up from his chest outwards as life returns to his body. It was his first time experiencing a Death Defiance and Zag was pretty sure, it wouldn’t be the last.

Zagreus felt awareness slowly return to him as he woke up. As he did, he also felt a headache forming. He was laying on his side, curled up under a blanket. Slowly, he allowed his eyes to open. This… was definitely not his room.

Zagreus risked his entire life, future and career on the slim chance of getting his parents back together, going so far as to fight against the wishes of his Father to enroll in a faraway university. Nyx originally sent her twins to protect Zagreus and keep surveillance on him, promising them that after a year, they can apply to transfer to their original choice.
Thanatos would have normally leapt at the opportunity to secure himself. However, after spending a year by Zagreus' side, he finds himself surprisingly hesitant.
