In June, Kahmunrah finds out that Ahkmenrah does not remember how he died. This leads to Ahkmenrah getting cursed to relive his death every July 13th: the anniversary of when he died the first time.
But really, there was no need to tell Larry, right? It’s only once a year, and it doesn’t affect anyone but him…
What he didn’t know was that Kahmunrah put this spell on a few of the other exhibits as well as a form of psychological warfare.

A very old Jedediah/Octavius fic. First one I ever wrote, honestly. Back in like the 2010 era or earlier, and it's been unedited since then, so take the fact that it is probably written distinctly worse than my current stuff with a grain of salt.

“Yeah, square-dancin’’s a lotta fun. Happens at every shindig in the Ol’ West. There’s slow-dancin’ too, sometimes.”
“Slow-dancing?” Octavius repeated, his silken voice smoothing over the word as if it was foreign language.
“Yeah, slow-dancin’. It’s kinda like… a duet thing, I guess. Usually there’ll be slow songs playin’.”
Jedediah shows Octavius of the slow dancing that occurs in the Old West, and with it comes a reminder of the feelings that linger beneath, and the longing that Jedediah has hidden across the many years that he has come alive.

Summary
Jedediah really should have noticed it sooner. They had returned from the Smithsonian and been on display for almost a month by now, and the new Night Program was in full swing...so perhaps there were more than a few reasons it had slipped under his radar. But still, he should have noticed it sooner.
Octavius’ brow was furrowed as he spoke to his second in command. Jedediah could see the dark shadows under the general’s eyes, the tension in his armor-clad shoulders, the odd little eye movements that flickered off to the side at odd intervals, as if he felt like he was being watched or was waiting for something to jump him. Octavius looked stressed and worn out and he was acting...well, protective, Jedediah landed on. Or maybe paranoid. It was a wonder Jedediah hadn’t caught on sooner.
All in all, it was obvious that something was up with the Roman general...and perhaps it was high time Jedediah did something about it.
(In which certain events at the Smithsonian may have affected Octavius more than he is willing to admit, and Jedediah is there to help.)
