The Captain is forced to confront his feelings about Havers after his old diary is discovered. He relives the past and lets it intertwine with the present as he finally learns to embrace himself, realising his story didn’t end where he thought it did. Nor did his Lieutenant’s.

There’s another film crew at Button House, and this time they’re filming a 1930s/40s piece about the English war effort. And they’ve brought period vehicles— one of which, it just so happens, contains the ghost of a very important Lieutenant.

He had spent lifetimes trying to forget what this felt like, this particular brand of hope. It was blinding, all-consuming, exciting, dangerous. It made him confront things he wished would stay buried, made him latch onto foolish ideas— scenarios where Havers returned to Button House through some contrived means. They all began something like this, and then, and then, and then.

Summary
When a key gets sent back to Button House after being stolen, it opens up old wounds for the Captain. Even with a couple of allies amongst the other ghosts the Captain tries to deal with these emotions as he always has, by closing himself off from them. What happens, though, if the key brought something else back with it as well?
The Button House family band together (like only they can) to get to the Captain before he loses himself in his memories and, luckily for everyone, they bring reinforcements.
Basically a long-winded idea about how to get the Captain his happy ending.

Summary
There he is. Anthony Havers, frozen in time. He's handsome, more handsome than he's ever been if that's even possible. The Captain's stomach does a flip. His sandy-brown hair is slicked neatly to the side, unveiling that glorious scar that darts through his eyebrow and down his cheek. His deep brown eyes are pooled with an array of emotions, just like they were in 1945. He's a remarkable image of that very day, across the grounds with that same quiet look of surprise, like he can't give too much away. He stares at the Captain like a deer in headlights.
"Anthony..." James whispers on approach. His heart hurts again.
"James..." Anthony responds, his parted lips forming into the most tender smile he's ever seen.
(As the Captain grapples with his pain, Havers returns to Button House a decade later to confess his sins.
Or,
Havers has become a ghost and we get the angsty reunion we've all been waiting for.)
