Summary
“Cute, but uh,” Frank chuckled at her act of sudden modesty, slightly mocked her even, “married—” he waved his left hand in the air “—you're obviously going through a lot right now, and plus, it wouldn’t be fair.”
Mel itched to say it was unfair now, with his dumb, tousled hair she wanted to tug, that cruel way he occupied her thoughts, and the fact that she couldn't kiss him without seeing his father’s face. None of it was fair to her. She never had the urge to balance the scales before—her life thus far had been tragedies and exits; she let them all go—until now.
So Mel said the thing she wasn't supposed to say.
“Not too sure if I like my boyfriend how I’m supposed to, or how I like you.”
Mel accidentally falls for her boyfriend's father.
