“I’m going to need you to repeat that for me,” he finally says. His voice is even but super scary. Papa never really yells loudly, but in a way this is much worse. “When did you say this is due?”
Anya clears her throat, looking at her feet where she rubs her toes against the linoleum. “Friday,” she mumbles.
“And what day is it today?”
She winces. “Wednesday.”
‘Wednesday night,’ she hears him clarify in his head. “When did you get this assignment?”
She winces again. “A month ago.”
“Right.” With a final breath, she feels his mind relax as he accepts the situation. Not that it isn’t absolutely buzzing with thoughts, but it’s his usual quick thinking. He holds out his hand and she quickly walks forward to give him the paper with details about the assignment. As he reads it, pictures of volcanos flashed through his mind with definitions and diagrams like an… an en-sike… an en-psycho… like one of those big books with all the science stuff in them.

Though no time in their line of work could be called peaceful, nor could vacations really be vacations for anybody (especially Twilight) she just… she just never expected an… emergency of this scale would arise. A setback this adverse. This disastrous. Almost catastrophic, even, considering how much Twilight shoulders on the daily for peace between two nations. This vacation was meant to be a rest and rebuild for her busiest and most efficient agent. Her best.
