Tim watches the whole sequence in slow motion. He sees the burly man burst through the door, his gun already in the air. He sees the finger already waiting on the trigger. He hears the awful sound of the bullet ripping through the air, the ear-splitting crack of the tiny explosion within the firearm that sent the bullet flying forward.
He watches the force of the bullet fling her backwards, powerless to stop the blood from blossoming across her chest.
"Lucy!" he screams. Not Boot. Not Chen. Lucy.
