Wind blew past him as he fell. It caressed his purple locks in the only violent nature he knew he'd endure again and again willingly. Wemmbu gazed at the skies painted in orange
(flaming)hues, for an entire second forgetting that he was pushed off...By the person he thought he could trust and turn his back to. Suddenly everything felt...
So far away.
It matters not. Not anymore even if it's a betrayal Wemmbu experiences yet another time. He felt tired. Bone deep exhausted. Perhaps that was the reason for Flame's next blows to be not as strong as usual.
In the end it doesn't really change anything. Wemmbu still feels that hollow exhaustion by the time he admits defeat, by the time he gives up his title of 'the strongest' and Lettuce comes to collect him. For some reason the idea of execution doesn't sound as bad as it did before.
Maybe he could even rest a bit. Or see Rejoice.
Or: Wemmbu is tired. Flame... for some godforsaken reason... Cannot just not care.
Set after/during his Prison arc and some crumbs of the invis arc.

fuck its too peak... lwk best fic I've ever read like egg omg I've never read anyone writing him as like the seraphim who's really strong like can kill people not just dependent on wemmbu to kill people like he's actually strong at times like and wemmbu he's not portrayed as strong funny haha like there's actual side effects and he's gonna die like I have actual maternal instincts over every person in this fic its not funny and its not boundary breaking like this is peak author has so much aura

Wemmbu stayed kneeling at the base of the steps, blood trickling against his chin, breath shallow in his chest, as he stared at the black ink crossing through Highwater’s name while Steampunk City waited untouched beside it. His head swam with the thought of another sky, another crowd of people looking up at him with terror.
Somewhere far away, Egg was still alive. That was the chain around his throat.
And everyone in the room knew it.
