Summary
As she swished the mascara wand around its little container, she picked up a familiar scent. The smell immediately hit her nose, and she nearly fell out of her little vanity stool. Her stomach ached with hunger. Something smelt good. That never was a good sign.
She turned her head to Elphaba, her doe eyes wide and her mouth slightly agape.“..Are you alright, Elphie?”
Her tone was slow and deliberate, and just a bit softer than usual. Elphaba just looked up at her, arching an eyebrow.
“Yeah, I just.. got a papercut.”
She held up her pointer finger, a little cut was just barely visible. Galinda couldn’t avert her gaze from Elphaba’s finger, no matter how much she tried. Elphaba felt uneasy under Galinda’s piercing eyes.
“How’d you know to ask?”

Summary
Emily Dyer had a shadow that was not her own.
The grains splattered against the ground, tiny little ricochets, starbursts against the uneven rock of the ground at Emily's feet. The pigeons had gathered already, unafraid, familiar with Emily after so long. They no longer scattered like specks of dust the moment she set foot among them, comfortable with her known presence. They were quick to snatch the grains up, lightning-fast, hard beaks pecking ruthlessly at the grains. If Emily were the more dramatic type, she would have called it nothing short of a bloodbath.
Emily's shadow- the one that was not her own- did not move. Her shadow watched, intent as a hawk, eyes sharp, and Emily watched the pigeons peck at the ground beneath, snatching up the tiny grains, pecking so viciously a few stray rocks came loose. One rolled all the way to Emily, bumping against the side of her shoe before settling down.
Emily stood. She looked back, briefly, discretely. The car hadn't moved an inch in the hour she had been there. She hadn't expected it to.
