Summary
Mike tenses his shoulders as he looks at the sketch Will has drawn. He points his finger at the drawing. "Do you think they're happy?" His voice is painfully curious; he looks like he's begging to hear the answer he needs.
Will ducks his head; now he's looking at the drawing too. "They look happy." He speaks with such a hoarse tone, he isn't even sure if he's heard himself.
"But are they happy? You're the one who's drawn them."
Will's cheeks blush with a wave of embarrassment. The sweetest shade of red blooms across his cheeks. "Yes," he says, a wilted smile on his lips. "Yes, they are happy, Mike."
Mike gives him a bitter smile and grips the sketchbook tightly. "At least we are happy in a different universe."
Or
Mike comes to Will's door with a tiny box in his hand and desperation on his face. They had fought twice in a row last week, and Mike came crawling back to Will with his dirty jeans.
There is too much to talk about.
