Summary
Gale was an eruption of movement before she could even finish, flinging the tome at her, the only thing saving her head from colliding with its thick spine was her quick reflexes.
“Don’t,” he spat. The veins of lightning on his forehead pulsed, the orb tattoo on his chest seething with a purple light. “Don’t you dare speak of her as if you know her wishes.” His hateful expression crumbled, revealing something hurting underneath. “You think I want this?” He swung his arms wide, to the state of his room. “You think I want any of this? I wanted her. I wanted a life together with her. We planned for a life together. I had bought books for her, to carry back to Waterdeep. I took her to the market one day, and she picked out curtains for us.” His voice wavered and he paused, sucking in a breath between his teeth. “I wanted her. That was all I wanted. But...apparently that was no simple request.”
“So what’s the plan here?” Shadowheart asked. She kept a wary eye out for any more flying tomes and gentled her tone. “Become a god and then, what? Bring her back?”
She waited for him to laugh at the ridiculous notion.
He didn’t, he only met her stare with his own.

Summary
Shadowheart and Astarion were among the first to receive Gale's blessing as a God. There would have been a third, as the story went. But that brave soul perished in the destruction of the Netherbrain. His body cast into the Chionthar, never to be recovered.
In other words, Gale could not shake the feeling that he was forgetting something.

Summary
The weight of Tav’s body gently presses down on him as she bends to kiss him- he’s aware of the feeling of her- all over, constant, soothing, ethereal. He arches up, leaning deeper into her mouth, a fire burning in his chest, spreading to his extremities. The ache in his chest feels similar to the hunger the Orb once made him feel- but this particular hunger is somehow infinitely stronger, and her body is the only cure.
They part, and he can feel her warm breath ghost over his skin as she rests her forehead against his.
“I’ve missed this,” he confesses.
“So have I,” she laughs breathily, “but you really should be resting up.” She speaks as though trying to remind herself just why she needs to hold back. “That salve isn’t going to do much if you’re exerting yourself.”
“It might be worth the risk.”
“Maybe. If you let me do all the hard work,” she flashes a mischievous grin.
