Summary
Hux didn't know when it started or when Kylo began noticing, but here they were; back to back, blaster and sabers, they had become quite the team. It was only when one of them started giving the other longing glances or sent feelings to the other through the Force that this... whatever it was, began. He'd say things couldn't get any worse after their altercation following the destruction of Starkiller, but that was before the Supreme Leader got involved and Phasma and Mitaka got dragged into it all.
What a mess.

In a routine mission after the destruction of Starkiller Base, General Hux is shot out of the sky. While suspended in death he meets a ghost claiming to be Anakin Skywalker that reveals a plan to resurrect Hux and use him to rescue Kylo from Snoke's influence.
When Hux wakes again he's alive, but true to his word, he's being haunted by the ghost of Anakin Skywalker, who wants nothing more than to help Kylo. But as both have learnt throughout life, things don't always go according to plan.Bookmarked by littleatari

The Barebone family has a history. They are descendants of the Scourers, a rogue group of witches and wizards who began as bounty hunters and became willing to hunt their own kind when MACUSA was being founded.
Many of the Scourers were brought to justice by MACUSA and its legendary first twelve Aurors, including, of course, Gondulphus Graves. However, not all of them were. Some went underground, marrying No-Majs and disappearing into non-wizarding society. Mary Lou’s fervent belief in magic is a family business.
Ultimately, this means that there are two traditions, two approaches to magic in the Barebone family. The preacher is one who rallies others, works to expose the wizarding world and abhors magic in all its forms. The Scourer is the other, the weapon who forsakes their own soul and wields a dark and half-forgotten form of magic. Mary Lou tells Credence that his mother was a wicked and unnatural woman. His magical talent is recognized from the beginning, so who says he ends up a preacher?

Wet, startlingly cold tears washed clean streaks through the soot and grime on his face as he stared almost blindly down at Anakin. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Anakin was the Chosen One, he was supposed to save the Jedi.
And yet.
And yet, here they were. A Sith and a Jedi, so heartbreakingly similar in all the wrong ways.

Obi-Wan can't leave Anakin to burn on Mustafar, but taking him and fleeing might not have been the best idea either. Anakin struggles between himself, between Vader and Anakin, all the while Obi-Wan tries to keep Anakin out of Palpatine's hands.

“No,” Hux ground out, interrupting Kylo’s diatribe, “Not this.” He flapped an aggravated hand back and forth, indicating the limited space between their bodies. “This.” His arm swept around the air in a large circle now, an all-encompassing gesture. “Snoke, Eidolon. Everything. Something about all of this just feels...wrong.”
i.e. Hux accompanies Kylo as he returns to Snoke for his training, and it’s both everything and nothing like he expected. He's got a bad feeling about this.
This is the sequel to 'Breath, and vice versa' and continues right where it left off, so it probably won't make any sense unless you've read the first two parts.

“Lieutenant, are you aware of Protocol 2-31?” Hux asked. The question evoked a curious expression to cross his officer’s face, before he nodded.
“Yes, Sir. ‘Any form of unforeseen injury within the workspace that is not specified as a possible hazard upon arrival, can be cause for reparation of the wronged party’s choosing, limited to paid leave, upgraded living space, newly granted luxury privileges, and/or a bonus 10,000 credits.’” He spoke with confidence that his information was correct, though a hint of uncertainty as to why he was being reminded of such an amendment.
“Correct, Lieutenant,” Hux said, taking his datapad in hand to make notes. “I believe being choked and dragged around by unseen physics based powers honed by Lord Ren fits as an ‘unforeseen injury’ that was not included in your commission contract’s list of possible risks.”
In which Mitaka and Hux go on leave, and old wounds are opened, and new feelings are discovered.
