Summary
Rio hummed, unconvinced, picking up a half empty beer bottle. “Why would-” she started, not sure how to word her next question without seeming too invested in the answer. “Why would they think that is something you would even do, I mean have you ever—or well—do you…like girls?”
She felt Agatha stiffen beside her. She turned towards Rio and let out a loud chuckle, too loud for how quiet the room had become. “What would make you think that?” Her icy blue eyes cutting into Rio’s “not everyone is like you.”

Summary
Agatha lives alone on the cattle ranch she inherited too young, too stubborn, and too angry to ever leave. She's built a quiet life there, fence posts, coffee at dawn, hard work that leaves her too tired to want anything more. Until Rio Vidal shows up on the edge of her property with a field kit and a research grant.
Rio is calm, focused, quietly competent and clearly out of place in the dust and heat. But she stays. And Agatha, who’s spent her whole life guarding softness like it’s weakness, finds herself watching.
Through storms, silence, cattle, and coffee, they find something slow and steady between them. Something that doesn't need to be named to be real.

Summary
Agatha reaches for the idol and Rio uses the couple inches she has on Agatha to keep it out of reach. Agatha growls at her. Oh, this is fun. Every time Rio’s been on this show before, she and Agatha worked together as a well-oiled machine. Until it all went sour. But it’s never been like this, never a push and pull, out here where they are closer to nature, where they are closer to being their animal selves. Rio likes it far more than she should.
Agatha shoves her to the ground and Rio goes willingly, still holding the idol out of reach of Agatha’s wanting hands. Rio fondly remembers when those hands wanted her.
