Dr. McKay's Golden Rule for Academics of Any Gender: never ever go into someone else’s hotel room while at a conference. And don’t even think about inviting someone into yours. It didn't matter that she had met all of her previous husbands (as well as her current one) this exact way. She wanted her students to do as she said.
