“I just think,” Kibum says, with a lick of acid that is probably excessive for the situation at hand, “that if your shirt shrinks in the wash, you can probably afford to replace it.”
Ten years ago that would have been like waving red to a bull, and even today maybe that’s what he wants. What he gets instead is the sweat-sheen of Minho’s throat, the sharp white of his teeth when he tips his head back. His laugh. Kibum’s heart lurches into his mouth to meet it, because he loves his members and he loves - making them happy. Sure.
“You don’t like it?” Minho shrugs into his next fit. “You don’t think - what’s that thing you used to say? ‘What’s the point of having a body like that if you don’t let me show it off?’ Now you’re mad I listened to you?”

“Are you allowed to be this annoying?” Seungkwan complains. “I’m trying to figure out if this is a sex thing and you’re laughing at me!”
“Sorry,” Kibum manages, waving a hand in front of his face like he can waft the hysteria away, gesturing at Seungkwan to eat. “Sorry, sorry, hyung didn’t mean to be mean. You let your members bully you into jeans that tight when you’re not sure if it’s a sex thing?”
Seungkwan sections off an entire shrimp with his chopsticks and shoves it grumpily into his mouth. Just past the lip of the balcony and the evening is breathing new life into Seoul, the throb of UN Village spilling out onto the Han with every new light flickering over its surface, the ambient noise of music and chatter and traffic wrapping the two of them in their own illusion of privacy. More intimate, somehow, for being made aware of the world.
“Ugh, this is really good,” Seungkwan grumbles. “I’m going to eat this whole thing and you aren’t going to be able to get me out of them.”
(Or: Kibum hadn't started out wanting to fuck Seventeen's Boo Seungkwan.)

There’s no reason for Zhang Hao to be looking sidelong at Qian Kun, cutely thanking him for his choreo pointers. Especially because - Qian Kun isn’t even one of Way V’s main dancers. Why ask him and not one of the others? Hanbin supposes it’s polite to make requests of another group’s leader, but that train of thought only delivers him back to the initial issue:
Zhang Hao knows this choreo. Zhang Hao does not need anyone to teach him this choreo. He definitely doesn’t need Qian Kun’s hands on his shoulders, adjusting his angles, laughing softly at some cheeky comment that Hanbin’s too far away to hear the context for.
(Or: Zhang Hao asks Kun for some choreo tips. Hanbin is of the opinion that he doesn't need them.)

Summary
A social service agent in the employ of the state is given five days training before being assigned their job for the next two years. Reassignment can be requested after one year, but Taemin had managed to last seven and a half months in the military band before his throat began closing up every time he was expected to sing. There’s not much more than a year left to go.
He suffers a grim sort of amusement to the idea that he had to train for three years to be an idol, but five days is enough to unleash him on the nation’s children. Especially with his - what had the press release said? ‘Symptoms of depression and panic disorder’. Taemin thinks that if he was a parent, he wouldn’t want someone like that looking after his kids.
(Or: Taemin is in recovery. Taemin is in love. Taemin is doing his best to figure out how to love himself again, before he starts doing anything about that).

“Well.” Ten lifts his chin, haughty, defiant. “I’m here now, aren’t I?”
He’s here now in a rural area of China bordering Tibet with no work, no cats, no distractions. He’s here now, trying to figure out why it still feels like Kun is lying to him. He’s here now with Kun. For Kun.
I missed you, Kun had said, even when they were an arm’s length apart. That part, Ten thinks, is true. And suddenly, and even though he’d been thinking about its impossibility, about its ridiculousness, all Ten can think is I missed you, too.
Maybe Kun senses it. Maybe he doesn’t. Either way, Kun looks at him for as long as he dares to keep his eyes off the road, and Ten sees an expression he doesn't recognise cross his face before Kun turns away, eyes fixed firmly ahead.
“Yeah,” Kun says. “Yeah, you are.”
(or: Kun and Ten make it to Sichuan after all.)
