Summary
Grian is a senior majoring in Architectural Design at his dream college, horribly burnt out and disillusioned with the system.

Their teacher, Professor Mumbo, wants nothing more than to do right by his students. So, when the opportunity for a life-changing competition arises—a chance to win full tuition from an organization called the "Watchers"—he volunteers to chaperone.
No one questioned it when the bus drove off into the Pacific Northwest. No one thought to check if the GPS was working.
Now, they’re stranded in the wilderness, far from civilization, with no way out.

Professor Mumbo Jumbo, Scar, Grian, Jimmy, Joel, Lizzie, and Gem to a competition in Seattle ran by an organization called the “Watchers,” which promised to pay the winners tuition in full. Things go slightly awry when Mumbo gets them all lost in the middle of the Pacific Northwest wilderness. Oopsie!

Grian and Gem are so close to getting the right amount of credit hours to graduate. All they need is a trades internship. They'll take whatever they can find, which is how they wind up answering an ad in the paper for Phasmo Investigations, Inc. It's two guys and a van, which is weird. The two guys say their names are Impulse and Skizz, which is even weirder.
But. Credit hours.
So sure we'll take the job that's good and fun okay we'll spend a semester filing old newspaper clippings and cracking detective jokes and what do you mean ghosts did you just say ghosts?

When Grian joins Mumbo working at The Hermit Coffee Co., he is thrown into a world of caffiene and chaos, with meddling co-workers, rambunctious regulars, and an absolutely henious amount of group chats. The friends he left back home miss him, Mumbo's college friends (cough, frat bros, cough) keep pestering him, and his new friendship with a certain scarred individual is developing in a way he never expected.
Will he be able to shake off the meddling redstoners? What will happen when there are two potential romances blossoming on either side of him? And will these baristas ever stop texting each other and just make me my goddamn soy-milk capuccino?

A coffeeshop AU told through the texts between hermits. Now a combination of texts and prose from chapter 7 onwards.
