Summary
This part of Simon's life is like a sharp splinter in his chest; he knows he’ll spill blood if he pulls it out. Once he starts opening up about it, he can’t take it back, he can’t just close it once it’s torn open. That’s the scariest part. But he can’t keep shutting Wilhelm out, either, and to his surprise, he finds his words glancing out from behind the cracks of his steely armour. They peer down at Wilhelm, who’s slowly running his hand across the surface of the soapy water, parting it like silk.

Summary
Simon forces himself to keep breathing. It’s only suspicious if he makes it so, he tells himself firmly. “What’s wrong?” he teases, doing his best to keep his tone light. “I’m sure you’ve met plenty of my kind.”
“Nothing,” Wilhelm jumps to defend himself. He picks idly at the skin of his fingers and Simon can’t help but notice the ragged flesh around his nails, almost as if this is a common habit for him. “I’ve just never had the best relationship with reporters - or the press.”
