It is said that war, war never changes.
In an alternate history of Ishgal, magic is not a concept. Instead, nuclear power became the lifeblood of civilization, powering automaton assistants, wrist-mounted computers, and devastating weapons.
Of course, that was before the War. Nuclear fire engulfed the world, with no clear origin and no clear end. However, before this, large underground safehouses were constructed for the purposes of saving humanity from itself in this scenario: Vaults.
In one such Vault, a woman was born centuries after the bombs fell. Lucy Heartfilia thought she would live and die in the concrete confines of Vault 77, but when crises both emotional and physical present themselves, she has no choice but to escape into the ruins of civilization above. She soon discovers that the world above is filled with horrific mutant abominations, harsh weather conditions, and worst of all, monsters who wear human bodies as a disguise.
