    And the drama of it all is stupid. It really is. Jake is back-hugging Jay so that Jay can’t look at him, they’re alone in the kitchen, and Jay’s muscles are tight enough to feel like he wants to bolt. They’ve been arguing for more than a year, they couldn’t stand one another for more than ten months, and here they are. Back-hugging in the kitchen. Any more dramatic and this could be the sinking of the Titanic.
    “You made me feel bad,” Jay whispers.

    (Or: Jake and Jay live together. They hate each other. Then they stop living together. And then one day Jake hugs Jay's back and hides his face in Jay's nape.)
