“You got Erudite,” she says stiffly, and Regulus scoffs, because he can tell it’s a bare-faced lie, and that she’s not elaborating.
He clicks his tongue. “Try again. Truth this time.”
Lily stiffens, and then she straightens up, face going cold. “You got Erudite,” and this one is more true. Regulus narrows his eyes, because still, there’s something he’s missing. “You got Erudite, and Candor, and Amity, and Abnegation, and Dauntless.”
“Wh- what? No that- that makes no sense." He breathes out through his nostrils, deeply exhaling. “The Test is supposed to tell me what to pick. The Test is supposed to give me a definitive answer.”
“The Test didn’t work on you!” Lily says in exasperation. “You don’t belong in one faction - you belong in all of them."
Regulus Black is 16 the day his life changes without warning. For the next 2 years, his path is forged for him, and he knows what to do, where he's going, how his life will turn out.
Except, when it comes to making the choice, Regulus does something, not even he himself anticipated.
And when he finds himself hunted, he's going to have to put himself to the test, to make sure he gets out of this alive.
