He bites his lip, hesitating. The words are right there, teetering on the edge of his tongue.
“Do you ever…” he starts, his voice low and tentative.
Yuma blinks, looking down at him. “Do I ever what?”
Taki freezes. His heart is pounding, and his throat feels dry. He should say it. He should just ask. But he can’t bring himself to. “Never mind,” he mutters, staring down at their hands. “It’s a dumb question.”

Summary
By the end of the week, Taki has just sort of accepted that he was wrong. It’s not an uncommon thing, after all. He’s wrong about stuff all the time.
So he figures it’s the truth: he and Yuma are dating. He must have forgotten the exact moment their dynamic shifted, which is kind of a bummer, but it’s fine. It’s whatever. It’s not a big deal.
Or: Yuma gaslights Taki into thinking they're dating.
