Summary
Diluc had never considered himself much of a religious man, even before finding out the Anemo archon was in fact an alcoholic bard.
His father hadn’t been all that religious either, and while he’d educated Diluc on the topic to ensure he’d be able to make his own choices, the idea of worshipping some grand being had just never appealed all that much.
Which might beg the question as to what Diluc was doing in the hands of the Anemo archon statue at this late hour.
A sleepless night perhaps, filled with nightmares during the brief moments he found himself closing his eyes. It wouldn’t be the first, and it most certainly wouldn’t be the last.
There was definitely some truth to it, but it was more likely Diluc would have just thrown himself at his paperwork and called it a night if that were the case.
The real reason he found himself standing atop the statue, was the fact that it was his birthday tomorrow.

Or: Venti is a better archon and friend than Diluc usually gives him credit for, and he appreciates it.

That had been when he had his first dangerous thought.
Would the Heavenly Principles notice if he died?
They had lost faith in him, and somewhere along the way, he had lost faith in himself too.
Yet, as the wind wrapped around him in a final embrace, Venti found that he felt no regret. His nation had lost faith in their god, and he had lost faith in himself. Perhaps this was the only true way to honor them, to free them from a god who had forgotten what it meant to be free.
He stepped forward, off the cliff, feeling the wind rush past him as he fell. His body plummeted through the air, and in those final moments, he thought of Mondstadt—the city he had loved, the people he had cherished. He thought of his friends, those who had come and gone, and the Nameless Bard who had taught him what it meant to sing with joy, to live with a heart full of freedom. Would anyone notice that their god died today?

In stark contrast, his own archon had clumsily fallen off the horse into a water trough mere minutes ago, now earnestly expressing a desire to play the flute for livestock.
He cant help but feels....Somehow disappointed.
