Summary
What would Tim Bradford do if he woke up one day and realized the life he remembered wasn’t the one he was living?
-----
The door creaks open mid-sentence, and Tim’s words falter immediately. Lucy steps into the room, and her presence is like a sudden shift in the air. Finally, they can get out of here. His full attention slides her, but all previous frustration he felt is momentarily eclipsed by something else. She’s been crying. It’s written all over her face, plain as day. Her eyes are red and glassy, the faint puffiness beneath them in addition to her slightly pink nose making her look far more vulnerable than he’s used to seeing. Even her posture betrays her; she’s standing too stiffly, her arms wrapped tightly around her midsection as though she’s holding herself together by sheer will alone.
Angela might actually have a point.
If he didn’t feel bad enough before, he sure does now.
