This wasn’t a second chance, this wasn’t a redemption, this was Goro playing the only card left in his hand in a desperate bid to take Shido down with him before he had to fold. Fuck the election, he was killing that asshole the second he could get a bullet in his brain, and if that meant playing nice with the Phantom Thieves -- well, he’d done worse than that before.
He closed his eyes against the light. Dying, he thought, would’ve been so much easier.

Summary
Ren's been different ever since he showed up again after New Year's—blowing off Goro's texts, acting like they're practically strangers. Goro isn't sure what made Ren finally accept one of his invitations to Jazz Jin, but it doesn't matter.
