"It's infuriating how good you look like this," Allison says, grip on his chin firm as she tilts his head to the side, trying to get the light to catch on the glitter. Her finger's caked in it, from pressing the pad into the palette and with a few more swipes over his eyelid she sits back in his lap and fixes him with a long look. Then closes the case and puts it to the side.
Kevin sits patiently, hands on her knees as she leans in. He almost mistakes it for a kiss, but knows better. He'd been told to wait. So he would wait.

Andrew eyes the trail of crimson. “You’re still bleeding.”
“I’m not staying here,” the merman snarls, giving Andrew a glare that would kill lesser, unaccustomed men. Andrew ignores it because he gets that look all the time.
But it gives Andrew a glimpse of just how blue the merman’s eyes are—a color so deep and alluring, he has to rack his brain to remember if merfolk’s eyes having hypnotizing qualities.
