Ah. This, Legolas can understand, in the abstract - indeed, he has heard about how the blood of men might boil after battle, though he admits to himself that he thought Aragorn above such things. He knows from conversations through the years that Aragorn had not retained elven chasteness after he left Rivendell, and yet Aragorn has about him an otherworldliness, as if mortal thoughts do not run through him. “I fail to see how that involves me.”
Gimli does not respond, just looks at him long, until Legolas feels his cheeks heat.
In the aftermath of Helm's Deep, Aragorn is pent up. Legolas comes to his aid, in spite of Elvish chastity norms.

The idea for this fic came to me when I came across a post about how some people, feeling comfortable around others, start using them as their pillow or footstool. The others feel loved when they are used as a pillow. An exhausted Legolas, used to taking so much on himself, falls asleep on Aragorn's shoulder. Over and over again. Aragorn doesn’t mind.
TW: death of a parent (folx, if you are grieving right now, proceed with caution, Legolas' mother is mentioned).

Occasionally he would make a sound if Aragorn pulled a strand too hard or fumbled the flow of the braid—not a sound of pain, but that of a teacher, guiding the hand of his student.
