Summary
It's not like Mel is particularly fond of Dmitri. She isn't. A conversation with Dmitri is intellectually as captivating as a lecture by Professor Bolbok in the early morning. On his better days, that is. Not that either of these men aren't intelligent enough to hold her attention. They just lack a certain intrigue. Something that makes her ears pique with interest.
Dmitri is — as charming as he's trying to be in this given moment — not much more but means to an end. Which end? Mel isn't entirely sure yet. She hasn't put much thought into her decision to step close; to throw her braided hair over her shoulder; to tap his upper arm with a curious smile on her lips. The only thing she has put thought into is that the watchful pair of eyes resting on her every movement will take as much note of this as she has of the many admirers he has gathered around him.
Or: Mel and Jayce have been seperated for five weeks and the first time they attend the same party since their break-up results in a jealousy standoff. Or so they say.
