Summary
Wade actually has to find a definition for it, and once again he’s out of words and it’s something he really has to make up for, but for once he’s willing to work on it. He may not ever be Ness or any kind of Ness-replacement… but it’s something. It’s good while it lasts. Even if they'll always have a tiny bit of the Honda Odyssey.
He chuckles lowly to himself as he thinks of the accidental Casablanca reference, and for one moment he pictures himself and Logan, with their masks and their suits, in an old black and white movie — Logan’s wearing a fancy Borsalino and he’s Ingrid Bergman, obviously — while he walks over to the kitchenette to fix himself a drink. “Here’s looking at you, kid,” he mumbles, deepening his voice even more as he reaches out a hand and pets Logan’s sweaty but still fluffy hair.
It’s too late when he realizes that there’s three blades slicing right through his thigh.
“Ow.”

“Yashenka moy,” Robby murmured, leaning his head against him.
Jack’s answer came immediately: “Mishenka moy.”
My Jack. My Robby.
They were words that had been spoken thousands of times: whispered into necks, exchanged over traumas, said across rooftop railings. It meant: I’m here. I’ve got you. You’re not alone. It’s just us. Take my hand. We’re in this together. It's you and me.
Simply put, it meant: I love you.

“Right,” Jack says, and like that, with his tone, the expression hardens, extinguishes, as expected, but he persists. “You need to be monitored for that length of time. If you insist on discharging yourself, then you know that’s what needs to be done.”
“Yeah? Who’s doing the monitoring?”
“Cute,” Jack says at Robby’s playing dumb. “Who d’you think?”

“Michael,” Jack repeats, and his real, full name coming out of his mouth twice in a row snaps Robby’s attention back up to him in the pitch-dark elevator. “I need you to talk to me and tell me what you’re feeling, right now.”
Robby’s heart pounds into his throat. His next contraction takes hold, too hard, too much, too fast, making his insides burn like he’s going to be sick— but then Jack’s hand finds his, blood-slippery and shaky and hanging on tight, and he swallows thickly to say, “I don’t— I don’t feel good, Jack.”
or: jack and robby's biggest concerns are getting through their residency and keeping their relationship a secret— until robby goes into early labor while trapped in an elevator with jack during a blizzard.
