The Shadow-Cursed Lands are absolutely dreadful. They’re corrupt, twisted, and any of the sun’s light that makes it through the dark shroud over the place does nothing to stave off the chill from their bones. Lucky for a certain group of adventurers with tadpoles in their heads, their resident tiefling with a freshly tuned-up heart (and a warlock with Hells-tainted blood coursing through his veins) just so happen to run the perfect temperature for keeping the cold away.

Summary
Hallucinations come a little more naturally to elves than other races. The vapor-thin veil between the reverie of trance and stark reality takes so little effort to pierce. An elf dreams through their memories without ever truly sleeping; thus, dreams do not always wait for consciousness to exit before stepping onto the stage. At least, that's how Astarion sees it. He's never had his assumptions checked by a second opinion.
Astarion, at Tav's request, eats something that doesn't agree with him. This has unexpected consequences.

Grian had his wings mantled, defensive like he was guarding something embarrassing, but his expression was all wrong, flinty and hotly devastated, the look of someone who’d snapped his moorings ages back. Wild. “Was I– I wasn’t under the impression that I was squishing your wings or anything, generally I thought I’d gotten better at that, but if that’s why you’ve smacked me–”
“Where am I?” Grian interrupted him. Mumbo would have been offended, but his brain was stuck on the sleep track, insistently attempting to get back onto those rails, and the sight of Grian crying was transfixing. As a rule, Grian was not a man who cried.
