Still turned towards the hearth, she spoke. Her voice was back to the controlled Astrid they knew, the determined one. The leader.
“There is something you can do. Both of you.”
Without making eye contact, she made her way over to the foot of the bed. She turned to face them, the rage in her eyes tempered into resolve. She swallowed, and took a breath.
“Come.” Her voice was as quiet and unwavering as all the times before.
Bren’s body froze. But, his mind started running.
It wouldn’t be like the other times. They could see each other now. Was it acceptable for them to do such things in the light, no matter how dim? When they weren’t doing it to survive?"

When the trio is locked up in a chilly cell during "training", they strip and cuddle to conserve body heat. It's normal to do it when they need to survive, but what will they do when Astrid asks them to do the same for her after a bad day?
