“We’re gonna keep pretending you’re fine?” Kacchan’s eyebrows draw together. “You’re convincing the others somehow, but it’s obvious. You’re doing a shit job at pretending, so just stop.”
He’s not walking anymore, but instead standing in the middle of the sidewalk, turned toward Izuku and stone still but for the tremble in his arms.
Izuku swallows and opens his mouth to draw out another easy platitude, but nothing comes. He tries, scrambles for something to say. Izuku knew he wasn’t convincing enough to fool Kacchan, but he thought with enough time and repetition, he’d convince himself and it wouldn’t be pretend anymore.
