Summary
It's their senior year. Izuku, Katsuki and Shoto are allowed on what was supposed to be a short, easy mission—all by themselves. But when things take a turn, Izuku is kidnapped and there's nothing the others can do but wait to save him. When he finally returns, his relationship with Katsuki starts to muddle. Let's just say that's where the real story begins.
Alternatively, neither of them realizes just how much they need each other until they're being forcibly torn apart.
"Stay close," Katsuki muttered, stepping closer to Izuku so he could better protect him. Izuku grit his teeth. He wasn't enjoying feeling like a damsel, but really...what other choice did they have? In their current situation, they were severely and quite utterly fucked.
"You have to leave me," Izuku blurted as the creatures closed in. Katsuki was now accounting for both of their backs—Izuku couldn't even stand himself upright. He was a liability. Useless. Katsuki had to leave him—it was the only way.
"You'd best shut up now, Deku. I'm not leaving," Katsuki shot back furiously. "And don't you ever even think about suggesting that again." -

Katsuki can do nothing but blink up at them for moments that feel like an eternity, eyes darting between both his parents in obvious confusion, disbelief, and, more than anything, indignation.
"What the fuck are you two talking about? The damn nerd is standing right beside you!"During a battle, Midoriya gets hit by a villain whose quirk detaches his soul from his body. Stuck in a ghost-like state, the boy enters a race against time in order to save himself from permanently dying. Much to his luck - or lack of it -, the only person who can see and talk to him in this state is no one other than Kacchan.
Alternatively: Deku and Kacchan are soulbound.

The villain cuts in right then, sharp and delighted. “Has Deku finally figured out he has to fuck his partner with my toy for this to end safely? How exciting!”
Katsuki’s head snaps toward the blue dot in the corner of the room, eyes blazing. “Over my dead—”
The toy chooses that exact second to give another long, punishing buzz, angled perfectly into the spot he’s been trying not to acknowledge.
Or; Izuku and Katsuki are kidnapped by a villain they’d been tracking down, and now their survival is hinging on how fast Katsuki can handle a very insistent toy.
