Summary
Bianca Rossetti is an Italian-American who moved to Birmingham to start over. To forget the ugliness of New York, to escape her family and their breath down her neck, and to save her closest friend, Kate McLaughlin. She doesn't know that Birmingham is just as bad as New York.

"You okay?" You were aiming for casual but it comes out overly so, like you're self-conscious about it. And, a little slurred.
"Fuck off," Shane says.
You nod. Figures. Turning, you start to walk away again when he says, "Sorry."
You stiffen, look at him. He's looking at you now, managed to tear his eyes away from the shelf.
"Sorry," he says again, with such an honesty to it. "Old habits."
Three years since you last spoke, the rumour around town is that Shane's sober now. When it proves to be true, and he wants to be friends, old wounds are reopened and old habits die hard.
