When his friends Anne and Mary ask him to come to New York to produce their latest play, Ed finds a fast friend in Stede Bonnet, and maybe something more.

"He'll be okay, Ed," Mary says, from beside him. She reaches out, laying a reassuring hand on Ed's forearm. "They'll all be okay."
Her voice sounds calm, but when Ed shoots her a sidelong glance, he can see that the anxiety in her eyes mirrors his own.
"I know," Ed says, patting her hand. "I know. It's just… fuck. This is gonna be the longest six minutes of my life, y'know?"
Ed Teach watches from the Family Room at Mission Control while his husband, Commander Stede Bonnet, and his fellow crewmates re-enter earth's atmosphere after their flight around the moon.

Stede laughs out loud.
“You mean to tell me,” he says, “that the substitute’s full, government name was Education Teach?”
“Edward, I’d expect,” says Lucius, giving Stede a look ordinarily reserved for the particularly dim-witted.
(Or: Stede has taken one day off. ONE. His classroom is a complete disaster. Who the fuck IS this Ed Teach? He can suck eggs in hell, as far as Stede is concerned. A modern-day enemies-to-lovers teacher AU, because the author is deeply self-indulgent and needed it to happen)
