"The first time Will really noticed it was when he was nine and quarters mysteriously found their way into his pocket at the arcade.
He had left Mike alone with his jacket and returned from the bathroom with two whole dollars more than he'd started with in his jacket pocket. Will had looked at Mike suspiciously, but his friend had insisted that he didn't know what Will was talking about.
The next time they were at the arcade, Will was prepared. He had counted his money three times before he left his house and kept track throughout the day. Then, during an intense round of Space Invaders, Will had felt Mike bump his arm. He hadn't thought anything of it in the moment, distracted by the game. But the next time that Will shoved his hand into his pocket, he found seven new quarters waiting for him.
He was sure then: Mike was secretly slipping him quarters."

“What? No! I mean — I just meant—“ said Mike, struggling with the words, “I… I mean… who is it?” he turned back to Hugo, “Can we know their name? It might be somebody we know already.”
Will frowned, “I hope it’s not,” he said, “I don’t like anybody we know enough to marry them — except our friends, obviously, but that’s different.”
Hugo, if it was even possible, looked somehow immensely more excited by these words, “I can’t tell you who it is,” he giggled, “That’s a really big spoiler.”
Mike Wheeler’s son arrives in Hawkins with no explanation, snapped back in time entirely by accident — and he latches on to none other than Will Byers. If only they all knew why.

“I feel like you used to tell me things,” Mike says.
Will looks away from his Walkman, back to Mike. It’s almost startling, finding him already looking back. “I – tell you things,” he replies, a little awkwardly. He barely gets through the sentence before Mike is already shaking his head.
"No,” he frowns, “you – you used to tell me things. Like, stuff you wouldn’t tell everyone else.” He seems conflicted, and he looks away. “Stuff just between us.”
Will doesn’t know where to begin.
Will tries to navigate a conversation with a freshly-broken-up-with Mike.

Summary
Will hums, leaning back on his palms.
“What?” Mike asks, looking up.
“Nothing.” Will shrugs with a sweet smile on his face.
Mike returns the smile and turns back to his shoes, untying the left one enough to pull it gently off of Will’s foot and place it down on the floor. He starts on the other shoe, but freezes as Will places a hand in his hair.
“My paladin.”
Mike looks up at Will, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape.
“My cleric.” He returns after a deep breath.
Will giggles, his already rosy cheeks blushing even more.

Mike picks up a drunk Will from the bar and takes care of him.
