Summary
Simon "Ghost" Riley is adjusting to civilian life after being honourably discharged, recovering from nerve damage, and barely leaving the house. He didn’t mean to lie. He just wanted Price to stop hovering like an overprotective mum. So when asked if he was seeing anyone, Ghost blurts out a lie to shut him up: he has a boyfriend. Problem solved – until Price invites said imaginary boyfriend to Christmas dinner.
When Gaz hears about it, he immediately calls bullshit. And then decides to step in to help.
Enter John "Soap" MacTavish: Gaz’s childhood friend, chaos incarnate, and a civilian working in private security who loves a good disaster. When Gaz asks for help, Soap agrees immediately. Pretending to be someone’s boyfriend for a holiday event? Sign him up.
Ghost expects awkward dinners and limited contact. What he gets is text messages at midnight, inside jokes, Soap knowing exactly how to help without being asked, and a growing problem: this was never supposed to feel real.

Summary
Ghost and Soap take their time moving too fast, and Ghost learns to accept what he already knows. Fifteen thousand words of domestic porn.
(Part Two of the Familiar series, which starts with Familiar as a Bottle and a Glass)
Ghost was helpless against his own smile. His hands itched to grab at Soap, itched to pull him in, he wanted to bury his face in the crook of Soap’s neck and breathe in all the deep, sleep-warm scents of him, wanted to throw him up against the wall, wanted to rip him apart from the inside out, find a place in his body and make a home there, break him into a million pieces and patch him back together using himself as the glue.

Summary
Ghost finally understands why he's seen so many soldiers count down the days until leave. As he looks at Soap, looks at where they are, what they're doing, how far they've come—when he looks at all of it... he gets it.
Of course, the flip side of leave, means that there's far too much free time to think. This, for Ghost, is something he's dealt with over the years to little success. But when he's got Soap, the good far outweighs any of the bad. The bright days outshine the hard nights. And the things that haunt them, even half a world a way, fade into the background.

Summary
“Yeah, I break up with her and then what? Move into my summer home with all the money I have? It’s not that simple.”
“You figure out the logistics later! Breaking up is just the first step and then you figure the rest out.”
He tried to slide out from under the car, but Kyle put his foot out. “Fuckin’ hell, Gaz. She’ll lose her shit if I dump her for no reason.”
Kyle was, apparently, not buying it. “‘No reason.’ For fuck’s sake, Tav, she’s been shagging her boss for months now! And she’s a fucking Tory .”
“I don’t know that for certain, and she’s not a Tory.” Maybe. “That’s just her family.” And he really didn’t know if she was cheating: that was the whole fucking problem. Breaking up because he didn’t love her anymore was way less likely to satisfy their families and prevent a series of passive aggressive retaliations than because Sandra was cheating on him. But he didn’t know if she was.
