Who would have thought that a professor of literature and a lover of books would find themselves stranded together (among others) on an island after a plane crash?
As a professor of literature, the reader finds Sawyer's obsession with books to be a good distraction from the imminent doom of being stranded on an unreachable island. When Sawyer begins opening up and seeking her out for company, thoughts on books, and asking her to write more for him to read (mixed with his signature teasing/flirting), the two realize they might mean more to each other than they previously thought. But as the stakes quickly grow from 'stuck on an island forever' to 'people are out to get us', it suddenly becomes all the more important to Sawyer to keep the reader safe. -
