Summary
As his professor rounds the front row of desks, one paper remaining in his hands, he states, “I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate who got the highest score this past exam, I know it wasn’t an easy one.”
Seungmin is mildly confused, as he feels he hasn’t done anything especially worthy of praise, but he never turns down a compliment when presented with one.
”Lee Minho, congratulations, you got a perfect score,” his professor states, handing the last test to a boy in the front row who accepts it bashfully with bright red ears.

Chan turns red in the face and turns around to swipe the notification free from his screen. “Uh- its a. "F-fuck." He groans out as the thumping drowns out any other noise that might have seeped through the walls. The pain is horrible, but it will pass. It always does. The tears begin to fall silently as he rocks back and forth in the bed, trying to dull it—help it.
Seungmin wasn't always like this. These constant drops didn't happen. He knows what could fix it. He knows that this pain is a choice that he willingly put himself into. It keeps him safe. It is his protection.
He was classified as a sub at the age of 20. Subs have a need to be put into a headspace, usually referred to as subspace, somewhat regularly to keep these drops from happening. To keep them healthy. Seungmin now chooses not to be put into subspace. Not anymore.
If he were allowing a dom to put him in subspace, he wouldn't have to deal with this pain, but this is pain he has control over. He is inflicting this on himself. He knows what to expect. He knows what it does to him. He would rather this control than that fear.

Summary
Jeongin runs a hand through his hair taking a long drag. He turns to Hyunjin on his exhale. “My life is fucking boring, man. It sucks.” He laughs again, the sound echoing against concrete.
“How do you mean?” Hyunjin asks, tilting his head a bit to one side. He’s got his hair tied back— a short ponytail at the nape of his neck, but a lock of it falls free, hanging over his cheek.
Once Jeongin starts he can’t stop— his heart moving as fast as his tongue, energy pent up behind his ribs. “My best friend is busy all the fucking time since he got a boyfriend, and I’m stuck working in this dead end job with shit hours— no offense— and I haven’t had sex in at least three months. Three, Hyunjin.”
Hyunjin stands up a bit straighter, folding his arms across his chest. He takes a deep breath, looking Jeongin in the eye. “Okay. Fuck it. Where’s somewhere you’ve always wanted to go?”
(OR: Jeongin runs away with his coworker, and the rest comes as naturally as it can for someone with control issues.)

It’s desperation that drives Felix to place himself at the mercy of someone he has no right to expect kindness from. Six months on the street with his funds running low, if one of his father’s men doesn’t kill him then the oncoming winter will. Going to Chan is a decided risk, he might put a bullet in Felix's skull instead of taking on the job he's offering, but— well. At least that death will be quick.
But Chan doesn’t kill him. He gives Felix shelter, gives him a home. And Felix finds himself in way too deep with a man who doesn’t even fully know who he’s falling for.
