“What are these?” his eyebrows furrow, flipping them in his hands to see both sides.
“One of them is a vape,” he laughs. Nick should definitely know this. “The other is a dab pen.”
“Oh.” he scans them some more. When he left, Charlie didn’t have them yet, still trying to save some money he was making from his job for a new phone. But now that it’s paid off, he has a lot of extra spending money, and he was always asking to take a hit of Tao’s anyway. “Can I try?”

Summary
As soon as Charlie gets through the door with Nick right behind him, he doesn’t bother setting his keys on the counter or hanging up his jacket like usual, he just drops them to the floor and trudges to the couch. Daisy, their two year old golden retriever puppy, who is usually excited and full of energy when her dads get home, notices something wrong slowly follows behind Charlie and sits right in front of the couch where he has already curled up into a ball of sadness.
Daisy whimpers and places her paw on Charlie’s lap, confused on why her dads were so excited when they left and why they’re so sad now.
