Caring for him came like second nature. She knew when to change him, feed him, bathe him. Her own biological clock started revolving around his, and she could carry through their schedule with her eyes closed, without the help of the ticking time bomb hung on the pale blue wall. The morning rays illuminated the room, making it seem brighter than it actually was. The golden cast that set upon the furniture and walls made it feel almost homely; almost like a place she’d want to spend the rest of her days in. If only it wasn’t for the sickly man in the center of the room, gazing out the window at the clouds upon the trees.
