Maybe it was the fact that he just lost Eddie. Or that he didn’t even think about the fact that he had almost lost Steve the exact same way till he saw Steve’s wounds at the hospital. Or maybe it was inevitable anyway. But hearing Steve say that if he could he would rather him be dead then Eddie and knowing that he meant it causes something in Dustin to just fucking snap.
Or: Steve said that if he could he make it that he was the one that died instead of Eddie he would and Dustin kinda loses his shit a little.
