Summary
When Rose decides not to return to Soul Society, you become the new Captain of Squad 3. Too soon after you are appointed, some kind of monster begins terrorizing Karakura Town. The first two investigation teams never return. Without Ichigo to protect the town, the duty falls to you and two other captains: Shinji Hirako, your friend and mentor; and Byakuya Kuchiki, a near-stranger that has a way of making you flustered by his very presence. Set just before the Fullbringer arc, so Ichigo and his friends will not appear. Written in 2nd person. Byakuya Kuchiki x Reader, slow(ish)burn, including elements of realization, denial of feelings, light teasing, surprising emotional intimacy, mutual pining, and confessions. Fluff and whump abound. MOST LIKELY WILL NOT CONTAIN SMUT. Original zanpakuto concept unleashed later, so be on the lookout for that! Female pronouns are used, but after the CONCLUSION of this series I will upload a version using male and neutral pronouns as well!
