Summary
"'Thank you for your consideration, and your kindness,' the somewhat sentimental Morax whispered to his treasured companion, one that even he had yet to accept any notion of feelings towards. 'I vow to conduct myself with greater caution, as long as you promise to be here to provide your aid should things take an unfortunate turn.'"

Summary
Nova Astrafel is an average young woman with average aspirations...at least on the surface. A Hydro Vision user with a passion for healing and sharing her stories with the world...but where does the inspiration for these stories come from, and why can’t she seem to shake the horrendous nightmares and vague memories that have plagued her for as long as she can remember?
After planning a trip with her lifelong friend, Mona Megistus, to visit the neighboring land of Liyue for the first time, Nova assumes she can put those worries to rest for a while; at least long enough to enjoy the journey. Little does she know, their seemingly innocuous trip may in fact hold the key to the answers she’s been seeking all along.
Only time will tell if she will ever succeed in tearing down the walls that obstinately bar her from the truth.

Summary
“The half-elf took a deep breath, paused again; the silence stretched on between them. Fingers flexing against the sheets, his eyes narrowed as he steeled himself to take the plunge. Unfortunately for Nova, she didn’t have the warning or forethought to brace herself. They were twisting in the wind together, and it took every last drop of composure and self-restraint to prevent her from launching into a knee jerk reaction as he uttered his next words.”

Summary
“If she happened to run into him again this evening, she wouldn’t let him get away until she’d sufficiently conveyed her thanks. If he truly was gone from her life for good, only time was sure to tell. But the unrelenting memory of the unmistakable strand she’d perceived in his presence lingered in her mind, filling her with trepidation and a bittersweet sense of longing that she desperately hoped would fade with time.
What wishful thinking that was.”

“There was so much they could say, so much they could do, so much to think about in a moment like this, in a place like this. But at the time, Nova could only really think of one thing to say.”

Summary
“Her mahogany eyes grew wide as she studied the breathtaking scene before her: an expansive, twisting network of rugged caves and vast caverns that’d been carved through the rock like veins of stone. The cavern interior seemed to capture both the solitude and the prestige of Dragonspine, the very root of the mountain’s essence, communicating said sentiments through the setting’s chilling silence and indifference.”

Summary
“His amber eyes remained fixed on the shores and sea he’d walked for millennia, a land that bore so many scars of the past, scars that wouldn’t heal no matter how much time passed. He placed a hand over his heavy heart, unable to completely ignore the fleeting thought of just how accurately that sentiment applied to himself.”

“Nova couldn’t tell if she'd screamed. She suspected she hadn’t, that she’d been too preoccupied with her life flashing before her eyes to do anything but stand stock still and wait for the inevitable embrace of death to claim her. There were certainly worse ways she could think to go out. At least she was with the one person she’d sworn to never abandon again; there would be no possibility of separation under the circumstances, and she was actually comforted by that fact.”

“It’d all happened so fast, but to Nova it still felt like she was twisting aimlessly in the void, a helpless victim ensnared by the invisible, greedy threads that bound her like a curse.”

“Guizhong smiled. And that smile was the only incentive Morax needed to do this. For Lady Guizhong, he would do anything. As long as she kept smiling, all was right with the world.”

“Hu Tao was a certified handful, and Zhongli was content to look after the blunt, headstrong young director just as she was. Preserving her smile, ensuring her safety was as essential as any other service he provided to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, and Zhongli dedicated himself to his duties with pride. And perhaps a smidge of personal incentive.”

“Would the Archon’s pretty words turn out to be nothing more than smoke and mirrors, an illusion or distraction intended to undermine him just long enough to damn him to an unfortunate yet deserving fate of atonement? Well, there was no turning back now…perhaps it was time to find out.”

“Amidst the dark, brooding memories that clung to him like starving leeches, draining him the same way he’d drained the life of so many others, and the crippling fear of the unknown, of the kind of trials and tribulations that still inevitably stood before him…at least the almond tofu tasted good.”

“Even if there was still much to worry about, even if there were dark, unpredictable forces scheming just beyond the horizon, at least in this moment the breeze was cool and the leaves and grass were fresh, vibrant, and full of life.”
